Proven Relaxation Techniques That Will Boost Your Productivity

Do you sometimes feel that your energy is low, your productivity is draining away and you need to “recharge your batteries” immediately?

There are various relaxation techniques which you can use to boost your productivity. These relaxation techniques can be used to produce a psychological change or increase the body’s well being through minor exercise. You can also use these relaxation techniques just to relax at the end of a busy, hectic day. Relaxation techniques are similar to stress management, as you relax, you reduce stress along with all the benefits associated with it like improving your productivity. Below are several simple and highly effective relaxation techniques that are proven to boost your productivity.

1. Daydreaming

daydreamAlmost everyone likes to daydream. It’s fun and relaxing to let our minds drift. We might daydream about taking a vacation. We might think about our preferred meal, or fondly recall a recent night out with friends. Simply let your imagination flow, and daydreaming will eventually boost your creativity and reduce stress level. As a variation, you can use a focused daydreaming to achieve a specific outcome you desire. For instance, if you have to deal with a person this afternoon who disturbs you, you can guide yourself through imagining your encounter with the person and having that encounter go well for you.

2. Square Breathing

square breathingYour breathing increases and becomes more shallow whenever you are stressed out. Essentially, you are thrown into a state of hyperventilation. Not only is it hard to think productively and work productively in this state, but this form of breathing can also make you feel mentally ill.

Square breathing is a technique that lets you slow your breathing, and focus your energies on yourself for a few minutes. Simply breathe in for 4 seconds, hold it in for four seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, hold it in for 4 seconds, repeat.

3. Meditation

meditation and innerciseWhat cardio exercises does for the heart, meditation also does for the brain. And the more you exercise your brain, the better results it will yield. If you are looking for a way to boost your productivity, give meditation a shot. Meditation reduces your stress level, increases your concentration, and also enhances your intuition. It calms down the mental chatter. When you are in that state, it is easier to be productive.

4. Yoga

yoga to increase productivityWith a lot to do, your energy and attention are scattered. You focus on the wrong things. If work is a to-do list that at no time ends and you feel anxious and blurry, take some time out for yoga. Do some yoga poses at your desk. Attend a yoga class. A yoga break brings focus and significantly influences your productivity, so if you only have 15 minutes between meetings, grab it as it could be the most valuable 15 minutes in your busy day.

5. Qigong

Qigong is a moving meditation which goes back to the ancient Chinese tradition. Literally translated as “Life Energy Cultivation”, Qigong is a real asset in centering and balancing your qi (chi). According to Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian philosophy, qigong allows access to higher realms of awareness, awakens one’s “true nature”, and helps develop human potential. By practicing qigong you can boost your productivity incredibly.

For example, if you had little sleep due to a business trip, practicing qigong can keep you highly focused and nobody will notice that you actually need to be in bed. In case you have insomnia, Qigong can balance things out for you so that you have a better sleep. Qigong can help you make better business decisions through focus and persuade people during negotiations. Below is a great example of Qigong training mixed with yoga:
